ABOUT THE GALA

ECHO Pre-Clinical and Clinical medical student board comprised of second and fourth year medical students during the 2023 ECHO Gala

Pictured above are the 2023 ECHO Pre-Clinical and Clinical Boards at the 2023 ECHO Gala. Each year, 24 first-year medical students and 10 third- and fourth-year medical students collaborate to organize clinical operations, fundraising events, and manage all administrative tasks essential for running the clinic under the supervisions of Dr. Sarah Nosal, MD FAAFP and Dr. Amarylis Cortijo, MD.

The Einstein Community Health Outreach (ECHO) Free Clinic is a student-run, physician-supervised clinic located in the Bronx, NY. For the past 25 years, medical students at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine have partnered with the Institute for Family Health to provide essential health services to the uninsured population of the Bronx. To support these efforts, the annual ECHO Gala was established as a gathering where community members, alumni, and students dedicated to the mission come together to show their support and strengthen the cause. The funds raised at the Gala contribute to patient services and community initiatives, ensuring that ECHO can continue to offer high-quality care, expand its programs, and address the growing healthcare needs of the community.

Join us this November for the annual ECHO Gala to celebrate 25 years of service to the Bronx community. Your participation helps us continue providing free, high-quality care to those in need, ensuring the ECHO clinic remains a crucial resource for the uninsured. Whether through donation or sponsorship, your support is vital to sustaining our mission.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

As we celebrate the alumni of the ECHO Free Clinic,
we are excited to welcome two keynote speakers
from its founding years.

Dr. Kent is a psychiatrist, psychotherapist, and internist in private practice in New York City. After graduating from Einstein, Dr. Kent completed residency in internal medicine at Columbia and worked for a year as a hospitalist in New Hampshire. She returned to Columbia for a second residency, in psychiatry, then a fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry. For two years she ran a Med/Psych service at Columbia’s Irving Medical Center and she now teaches a variety of medical topics to psychiatrists-in-training at Columbia. Dr. Kent’s interest in the intersection of psychiatry and internal medicine stems in part from her role as ECHO’s second Project Director in 2000-2001.

Laura Kent, MD

Albert Einstein College of Medicine class of 2003

Rob Siegel, MD, FACC

Albert Einstein College of Medicine class of 2003

Dr. Siegel is the Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder of Milo Health, America's first digital prescription wallet. Milo makes it more affordable and more convenient for anyone to fill their prescription medication. He also co-teaches EKG interpretation with Dr. Martin N. Cohen in an Einstein 4th-year elective. He previously served as Medical Director at Calvary Hospital and as a cardiologist at Jacobi Medical Center. He is particularly proud of having served as the second Social Work Director of the ECHO clinic in 2000-2001, a position whose title has evolved to Public Health Director.
